i've never liked the word. and at -3 (it feels like -40), it is most definitely frigid.
isaiah stayed home to rest today. basically it was just a camping-out-on-the-couch sort of day, for all of us. and this is mostly why:
you know those nights when you feel so good about yourself because you are in bed by 10:30pm and you think you're going to get the best rest of your life?
but really, it's just some sad trick because suddenly you are backed up into a small squirming body who decided to sneak into your bed during the night. then, the other kid - the sick kid, has another fever and needs some liquids and cough drops. and all through the bumpy night of trying to fall back asleep, it's impossible. and then, thankfully, the fading into strange dreams, only to be awoken by a little mimzy squawking to be let out - because, after all, it is 6:30am and time to get up.
needless to say, not much was accomplished except for the made from scratch mac and cheese w/ roasted tomatoes - oh my gosh, i can't believe how fantastic that turned out. i had no idea mac and cheese could rattle my taste buds that way.
it was a big hit with mimzy. not a drop on the floor.
just one of those lazy days that throw off my entire schedule because i really didn't feel like doing laundry today, but still have to. cuddling, reading books, and watching movies is so much more fun than housework.
****
today i am grateful for:
*sam, who took makayah to her sports lead-up class. she needed to get out and run around. :) today was floor hockey day. she loved it and couldn't stop chattering on about it. poor isaiah was sad he missed out.
*dancing babies. can she be more adorable? goodness.
*cat naps.

as part of our lazy day, mimzy thought she'd entertain isaiah - just to lighten things up.
she thinks she's such a riot when she sports her star glasses. we think so, too.
and little miss artsy makayah left out her markers. looks like someone found the blue marker and tried to eat it.
isaiah started to feel better by the end of the day. i had him do his reading homework and he read his assigned books to samiyah while i cooked dinner.
daddy took mak to her sports class. doesn't it look so very cold outside?
