January Tidbits

January Tidbits

*finished our star wars marathon on new years day, and played board games with the little ones. i loved ending and staring the new year with my family. happy new year.

*i would like to thank the madison children's museum for keeping my house clean today. my kids wiggles have all been wiggled out.

*daddy is getting his butt kicked by Makayah in Wii bowling

*makayah has been busy with gymnastics at the YMCA. we had a late night last night at the Great Dane Pub. isaiah and makayah brushed up on their shuffleboard skills. tonight, isaiah is at basketball practice and mommy is at home with the girls...and lots of tissue for my sniffles. good thing homemade chicken noodle soup is on the menu tonight.

*another sick day for mama, which translates to a movie day for everyone else. at least i got the house organized and cleaned beforehand, otherwise, it'd be completely destroyed by now.

*fun friday with the muich's at the YMCA tonight. thanks guys! the mega trampoline is always so much fun!

*after one crazy day of chauffeuring, sibling sparring, inca dinner dining, snow crunching, american idol watching, and bedtime challenging,..samiyah has won child of the day. i am truly thankful that at least ONE child is sweet and easy all day long. i wonder who will win the prize tomorrow. ;)

*sam gave me an early box of chocolates. amazing! i really should've taken pictures. they were the most beautiful chocolates outside of switzerland. passion fruit, apricot marzipan, lemongrass, banana flambe. super yummy. thanks hon. love you.

*madison restaurant week: inca heritage and the melting pot. delicious!

*little sisters are for dressing up in doll's clothes, whether they like it or not.

*I like it when old people make me feel like a little boy again. Today I talked football with an elderly gentleman as I helped him down some stairs. Old folks are cool. -Sam

*playing just dance 2 with the kids. quality family time. they are killer!

*isaiah refused to watch girls skating around in skirts at the local roller derby tonight. so, we had to make alternate plans. homemade banana bread and navajo tea while watching the packer's game. it wasn't such a bad substitute. ;)

* isaiah's quote of the day:
"makayah, don't breathe on me!"

* makayah's quote of the day:
"mom, if somebody tries to beat me up, i'm just gonna tell them, 'don't mess with me, my daddy is a LAWYER!' and dad says to kick them in the nuts. mom, what are nuts?"

the art museum

we went on a photo shoot with our friends, and decided to take the kids along. we were taking photos of two of their primary friends from church. i don't know if that was the smartest thing to do as our children can be quite wild and into everything. but we got some good pictures and they had fun playing with their friends. we started out at the overture center (we did an indoor shoot because it was way too cold outside), and while we took pictures, isaiah and makayah were able to see a free play downstairs. pretty cool. next, we hit up the museum down the street. the museum was awesome, and i think the kids loved the exhibits there. while sam was taking pictures, the kids and i watched a video exhibit on iran. it was beautifully done. i wish i could've remembered the title. we weren't exactly sure what it was about, but it looked good. ;) after all our hard work, we all went out to red mango where they serve all natural and organic yogurt treats. yummy. by the end of it all, though, we were so ready to go. the kids were tired and there was some kicking and screaming, whining, and crying and somehow - with the help of sam carrying some of the kids over his shoulders, we made it out alive. we weren't supposed to take pictures in the art museum, but i just had to sneak a few.

Fuzzy Glasses

i LOVE when isaiah makes things at school and brings them home. i wish i could keep everything in one huge box. i went to pick him up today after school and he came out wearing these.
i thought he was the cutest thing ever!! i love that he is still little enough to wear his silly creations and not be embarrassed about it. man, i love this kid. he was so proud of them, and wanted to wear his fuzzy glasses all evening. oh yeah, p.s. it's my birthday today. ha! i almost forgot.

this morning sam took me out to la baguette for a breakfast brunch. then it was a birthday lunch at p.f. chang's. birthdays always revolve around food here, it makes us happy.

Mim's First Time Sledding

we woke up to a beautiful snowy day today. the snow was perfect to go out and play in. and since school was canceled, it was even better. we all bundled up, and so did baby mims. we started out by the car to dig it out of the snow. isaiah was a great helper. makayah helped "supervise." i think baby mims liked the gentle snowfall, too. after we dug out the car, the kids went sledding on our little hill in the front yard. the hill is pretty steep, and isaiah and makayah had a blast sledding down and crashing at the bottom. it was a day filled with lots of giggles. even baby mims got to go sledding for the first time. :) wisconsin winters aren't so bad afterall.

Daddy Daughter Dates

Since having the baby, Sam has been excellent about taking Makayah out for some one on one time. Today, he bundled her up, and they rode the bus into downtown Madison. They talked, had some frozen yogurt (yes, in the dead of winter!), and walked in and out of shops on State Street. I am so very grateful for Sam. He is a good daddy, and sometimes I am just too exhausted to give attention to all three kids. Makayah loves and looks forward to the many dates they have, so do I. ;) Thank goodness for great daddies.
