April Tidbits

*isaiah's quote of the day: "mom, where's my piggy bank? the people in japan need it." he took his entire jar of coins to his school fundraiser. i love that kid.

*makayah came sniffling in, "mom, isaiah and i had a coconut splash."
i love her made up words.

*makayah found a sparkly loose gem while we were out shopping. she pushed it up her nose thinking...maybe that it would magically appear as a nose stud??? luckily it wasn't up too high and sam flicked it out. first, and hopefully last things-shoved-up-noses incident. now she "knows."

*mims has sprouted her first little nub of a tooth. she gets cuter and sweeter everyday, how is this possible?!  i love my mims.

*isaiah's poem:
"inside my heart lives
a birthday party
and two puppies."

*organic wild rice and lentil soup with kale...and homemade organic honey wheat dinner rolls. not too shabby. i also used the extra dough to make cinnamon buns. very yummy.

*princess kate's wedding. makayah's quote of the day: "mom! did i miss the princess? did i miss the carriage? did i miss the castle? did i? oh, *sigh*, i didn't."

*makayah's quote of the day: "mom, let's play house. i'll be the mom and you be the 'honey'."

*isaiah's first day of soccer league. he was so DANG CUTE! i love my little man.

*While discussing immigration law in class today. I was asked what my "status" was in this country. I may have pissed off a few people when I replied I was more "American" than anyone else in the room. Sometimes I wish there more Ndns around to back me up.

*You know you are moving along in life when you get excited about test driving a mini-van

*Picked up the new car today. Took the family out to celebrate at Red Lobster and am looking forward to this Summer. I am going to miss my highlander though, that car was awesome.

The First Soccer Game

The First Game

it's that time of year again. today was isaiah's first soccer game of the season. he's been so excited and anxious for the season to start. he saw some of his friends from preschool and was really happy to say hi to daniel again. daniel goes to shorewood and is on another team. there are several teams for van hise, and isaiah has a few friends from class on his team. he loves running back and forth trying to get the ball. he still isn't very serious about the game and is more focused on having fun, which i think is great. he did a good job. it was fun watching him from the sidelines with mimzy. makayah had immediately run off with her friends, and came back after the game was over.
happy saturday!

Easter in Green Bay

Easter in Green Bay
our good friends, jeremiah and teresa powless invited us over for easter sunday. we had stayed up late the night before playing cards with sid and emma. it was so fun and we laughed so hard. we didn't go to bed until 3am. it was hard to get up early with the kids, but we did. we colored eggs with their daughter, chloe. then we hid the goodies and let the kids loose. we all had such a great time. it's so nice having friends and family close by in wisconsin.

Chicago Shedd Aquarium

Chicago Shedd Aquarium
we love living so close to chicago, without actually having to live in chicago. we went on a day trip to the shedd aquarium today. we parked our car, and loaded up the babies onto the subway car. it was much faster and less stress to bypass all the traffic. plus,  we all loved looking out the windows taking in the  cool tour of the city. the aquarium was filled with fascinating water creatures. the kids soaked it all in, and mimzy even tried to eat a jellyfish through the window. they did look pretty. it was a fun adventure, even if the sky was gloomy and the city was windy. that's chicago for ya. these adventures are wonderful gems that break up the mundane. thank you for taking us, sam.

All in One Day and Picnics, Too

All in One Day

mimzy found her toes this morning and is ecstatic that she can bring her toes to her mouth, ah finally. sweet baby bliss. our days are usually filled with silliness or grumpiness, each child rotating and taking their turn. but for the most part, we have lots of fun together. i can safely say that the best part of our day is when isaiah comes home from school. the girls and i are pretty lonely without him. and of course, the treat of the day is when daddy comes home. he came home just in time for mimzy's first blow out. this baby has been busy with all sorts of "firsts" today. haha.

Pick-ups and Picnics
when daddy is all done with classes for the day, the kids and i usually pack into the car and drive 10 minutes down university ave towards the law school, and park along side the road across from the law building. we play games and talk as we watch for him to come out of the doors. we always miss him so much. sometimes we'll stop at "noodles" or thai restaurants, or pizza places to have a bite to eat before heading home. and sometimes, we'll have picnics with our friends instead...especially if it is brian and farina and their new baby. the weather was perfect for an evening picnic and friends. ***

Downtown Madison Photo Shoot

Downtown Photo Shoot

we've been taking so many pictures of everyone else, we wanted to set aside today to focus on our kids.

each one has such an amazing and unique personality. sam went out with isaiah and he played the hand drum, told jokes, laughed, jumped from stair to stair. he is a ball of wonderfully creative energy.

makayah is our firecracker and sweet sister. sam took her to mendota terrace where she let loose and rocked out. i absolutely adore the photo of her on her air guitar. it is the perfect photo displaying the fire inside of her.

and sweet little mimzy did a great job of sitting up as best she could. right now she is a butterball of sweet joy. she is the perfect baby and has the juiciest cheeks just right for smooching.

madison is such a cool town. it was a lovely outing with the family. ***
