Samiyah's First Taste...

samiyah is officially five months. and sam, the kids, and i have been really very anxious to give her a taste of some real food. i just think it's so fun to see their first reaction to food. i pulled out the organic blueberry/apple baby food, and a spoon. we strapped on mimzy's "diva" bib, got the cameras ready, and...action! here we go...yummy organic goodness. and it's in! what the heck did you just put in my mouth?! and...here it comes... blech. baby does not likey.. it's a no-go for organic blueberry/apple goopyness. maybe next time guys.

February Tidbits

February Tidbits

*to be in Wisconsin when the Packers win the Super Bowl is magic. Horns blaring in the street, people chanting. Strangers hugging and high-fiving. Reminds me when Canada won the gold medal in hockey.

*I am wide awake. So is baby. I just want to pick her up out of her crib and play with her, but it's 2 am and she needs to sleep, and Monika will get after me if I do. But her and i have so much fun together. She laughs real loud when I do a Lil Jon impression.

*finished doing yoga and now playing "just dance" with the kids for our PE segment of the day. makayah keeps shouting out, "is that all you got?!"

Daddy is Home

Daddy is Home

the kids missed daddy terribly. while he was away, isaiah drew a mario and luigi picture for him (he recently went to a mario party and has not stopped talking about it). mimzy busied herself with her jumperoo, until daddy came home and gave her the hugs and kisses she needed. and when sam finally arrived, he took the kids out for winter walks. yay, dad!

Moot Court in New York

Moot Court in New York

i was a little nervous for sam's weekend away in new york for his moot court competition. it would be my first time with all three kids, all by myself, all weekend long. yikes! it was sam's first time to new york, and he was pretty excited about it. he called every night, and i really wish he had written a post about his trip, but he was just too busy to. he did have a great time taking pictures, and he took so many amazing photos of everything. he did okay in the competition, and i think, overall he was pleased. i'm so glad he had this experience. he deserves it. some of the pictures he took were around central park, downtown area near seinfeld's famous eatery, and the ferry to catch a glimpse of the statue of liberty.

Playdoh-in it up

Play-doh'in it Up.

makayah has been such a huge help with the new baby. even after 5 months, we are still learning our new routine. baby samiyah has been a dream, which has allowed me to ease into figuring out my time between all three kids.
today, i had some time to get the playdoh out for makayah. she loves to create things and has been making pies, birthday cakes, and flowers all throughout the morning.
the playdoh never stays one color with her, and as long as we don't tell isaiah, we'll be okay. ;) great job, makayah.

Look Who's Rolling Over

Look Who's Rolling Over!

little mims has discovered the joy of rolling off her tummy onto her back. thank goodness, she hates being on her tummy!
and makayah decided to celebrate by smothering mimzy with kisses whether she likes it or not.
we're all about the simple joys of life, and this is definitely one of them.

Isaiah Tags Along

Isaiah Tags Along

sam loves taking the kids to the law school with him. the kids love it, too. it's a nice break from mama and baby stuff at home. we don't want anyone getting cabin fever over the winter. so, isaiah dressed up and spent the day with daddy and had the chance to see what a law student has to do all day long. ;)

Isaiah's First Protest

Isaiah's First Protest

This past week, there was no school for isaiah because the teachers had gone to the capitol building to protest a recent bill taking a significant amount of money away from the schools along with some teacher's union rights. sam and isaiah headed over to grab some photos and see what was happening. isaiah cares deeply for his teachers and joined in their cause. go isaiah! ***

Valentine's Day with Beet Soup

Valentine's Day with Beet Soup

sometimes the best celebrations are low-key. i went crazy making tons of organic whole wheat cookies for isaiah and makayah's valentine treats. they turned out pretty cute and super yummy.
when the kids came home, we whipped up some red beet soup, and enjoyed each other's company.

love is grand.

Oneida Pow Wow

Oneida Pow Wow

we went to green bay this weekend. we spent the majority at this amazing pow-wow. everyone looked great and the smoke-dancers blew my mind! sam took some really awesome pictures. and we met up with grandma rita, sid and his family, and had dinner with bill cornellius and his kids. green bay is always so much fun.

on our way home, we drove up to a wonderful surprise.
in honor of the green bay packers winning the superbowl, the capitol was lit up in green lights.
it was CRAZY in madison! Go Pack, Go! ***

Snow Fort

baby samiyah, nice and warm inside. the walls of snow lining the sidewalk and entryway. we had to dig our car out before the snow turned to ice. our back porch got pounded by the blizzard. we were blasted with snow this february. when the landlord came by in his huge truck to plow the snow from the driveways, there ended up to be a monster mound of snow near the little backyard playground. it quickly became a snow fort with the help of daddy sam. isaiah, makayah, and their friend down the street (who is also in isaiah's kindergarten class) played there almost every day after school. i have to admit, it was pretty awesome.
