i usually try to have sam come along for these trips to the doctor. fortunately, today was an easy trip. samiyah needed her 12 month vacs, mak and isaiah needed their flu vacs. we had an early appointment, due to school and such so we were called in fairly quickly. samiyah was weighed and measured (all in the 50-75 percentile range). next, our nurse and pediatrician looked over the kids. i can't express how much i love our nurse and pediatrician. we see one of two nurses that belong to our pediatrician. we have seen her for every appointment for the past two years - ever since we moved to madison. it's like going to visit a friend.
the kids turned out to be healthy, most especially samiyah. the needle part is always the worst for me when i take my kids in. i can't help but get choked up every time i need to hold my little baby down. mak and z got their flu vaccinations done first - it's all about strategizing. they both had the flu mist sprayed up their nose, easy. i held samiyah down, whispered comforting words and explanations, while trying to kiss her tears away. i didn't get choked up this time and samiyah stopped crying a couple minutes after her 5 shots. i guess we were both pretty tough today. ;)
that was the most exciting our day turned out to be. i dropped the kids off at their schools, came back with samiyah, and she slept for most the rest of the day. sometimes she will be fussy or sore, but thank my lucky stars, it was like we never even saw the doctor that day. well, with the exception of taking the little band-aids off. she wasn't too keen on that.
although, this is pretty much all i got done today...i felt hugely productive. all my kids are vaccinated. whew.
