sunday morning pirate ships

we slept in, had a peaceful breakfast, and skipped church.
church is still being held in lacrosse and most everyone was going to be out of town. there was no reason to stress myself out and drive the 30 minutes out.

instead, we had some great family time working on making pirate ships!
we still had loads of cardboard boxes, and some were the perfect shape for boat making.
it was super warm outside and perfect weather for outdoor painting.

if i was nice enough to get the paints out everyday, that's all my kids would want to do, paint, paint, paint. ;)

this is the perfect depiction of childhood joy. free and wild.

he took his pirate boat painting very seriously. it had to be just right. and it was.

standing watch. makayah had to ward off the wild mimzy from attacking her pirate ship.

and this little guy was just happy to be outside in the warm summer weather.

after we washed off the mud and paint, we had story time. one minute, everything is picture perfect.

the next minute, girls are squabbling over books. ;) i thought this was so funny.

mosiah wanted to know if the book tasted as good as it sounded.

goodnight babies.

today i am grateful for:
