mommy dearest...

two days after the baby and i came home from the hospital, sam had to fly out to santa fe for a job fair/law conference shindig for several days. yeah, not our best moment of baby planning.

so, with all this chaotic law school stuff going on, my mom had planned on staying and helping me. thank my lucky stars!

i seriously could not have survived the first week home without her.

she played with mimzy - who, at the time needed to be flooded with love and affection. she drove makayah to school. she went grocery shopping. she picked up isaiah from his art class. she cleaned and cooked. but most of all, she was great company for all of us, who would otherwise be extremely lonely and frazzled.

without my mom here, we could not have had fun outings to the parks and community gardens.

the girls were so excited to get out and be free. ;)

happy to be playing in the dirt.

at this point, so early in the game, i had yet to master the art of feeding two babies at the same time.

my mom is heaven sent. mimzy was so up and down - even with her yogurt (she wanted to feed herself, but that always ends up in a disaster, and that was something we just didn't need at the time).

resistance was futile. nana has her magical ways of getting mimzy to do things.

and when my arms were in need of relief from this cute and very heavy snuggle bunny, he was more than happy to be snuggled by his nana.

this first week home, i felt so normal and productive with my mama here with me. we made several trips to the craft store and sewed up a storm. i made a car seat cover for little mo and my mom made two matching dresses for the girls.

we watched movies, we talked late into the night (sometimes too late), we laughed until we cried, and cried until we laughed. i loved every moment. i love my mom. growing up in a family of boys, she was my very first best friend...and i'm so glad and grateful she still is. :D

today i am grateful for:

*my mom. things would have been so disastrous without her here. ;)

*my dad and his sweet gift of orchids and chocolate. thank you dad, i love you!

*sam and the sacrifices he makes for our family. thanks, babe.
