our week through photos

we were pretty worn out from our trip and took the next few days recuperating.

our weekends seem to be jam packed full of activities, so during the week, we just like to take it easy.

when we are inside, which seems to be quite often during this heat wave, the basement is the perfect hideout.

there are times when we have to brave the sauna-like temps for things like baseball and gymnastics.

there's this huge playground with lots of shady trees near the baseball field. it's a great place to get the kids tired after practice and games. we've made some friends with some of the regulars there.

isaiah's doing a fabulous job. he likes to dance and sing while he's out on the field, but i think that's just fine. i want him to really enjoy playing sports. there'll be a time when he wants to be competitive and serious about the game...but right now, he's just a kid and the most important thing is learning how to be a good sport and having fun.

i packed all my workout clothes and running shoes for our trip to tennessee, and surprise, surprise...

no workout, nada.

i really had to make up for my lack of training this past week.

i did my 3 miler, and then my long run i had missed.

8 miles in 78 degrees - which felt more like 99.

so hot.

and like all trips we go on, we usually have a ton of laundry to do when we get back.

this trip was no exception and i really just wanted to stuff everything in a box and forget it ever existed.

but since it was wednesday and i still hadn't touched the overflowing baskets and unpacked luggage, the kids were running out of things to wear.

this little guy fell asleep while i put the clean clothes away.

melt my heart.

kale, the shockingly addictive and most requested summer snack in our house.

towards the end of the week, the temperatures began to cool, and we all headed outside.

mosiah strolled the lawn and played with trees, sticks, and rocks.

the rest of us, went out on a bike ride around the house, and up and down the street.

it felt great to get out.

whenever our neighbor friends are in town, we drop everything - even chores - so we can play.

sometimes they play on the trampoline, sometimes they play board games, sometimes they ride scooters. today, they decided to make a lemonade stand.

it was very last minute and after some financial negotiations with the lemonade provider (sam), the stand was up and running.

i'm not gonna lie, i really didn't think they were going to sell anything since it was so late in the evening.

however, these kids pulled in a whopping $11. they hailed down cars and people on bikes. they are quite the salespeople.

summer days are wonderful.

we dance, we sing, we jump, and play.

we let the sun shine down upon us, and soak up all that life has to offer.

and at the end of every day, we like to close with cuddles. it's our favorite part.
