the blissful days of the second trimester...

today i feel so alive! the past few days my energy has skyrocketed. it may be a combination of iron supplements and the fact that i'm well into my second trimester now, but whatever it is, i feel so good.

this morning was a picture perfect autumn day. the air was crisp, but not too cold. and now, maybe i can be a little more thankful for the "fall back" time change since it did grant me a beautiful sunshiney morning to walk the kids to school. technically, isaiah scootered, and the girls sat comfortably in the jogging stroller while i jogged....however, we did take our time actually walking back home. samiyah was super excited to go out this morning. as the kids all got their things gathered up, and laced their shoes, samiyah waddled over to the couch and grabbed her jacket. she looked up at me with her jacket in hand and said, "go?" i nodded my head, "go." i held out her jacket for her as she put one arm in and then the next. i zipped her up and she waddled after the older siblings out the front door. oh my goodness! it was the sweetest thing in the world!!

in all my excitement of bubbling energy, i began deep cleaning and de-cluttering our apartment. it's going to be a long process, but at least it can get done now. i feel like a new person. not that i was sick as a dog before, but i felt like i was walking through fog - forgetting everything i needed to remember, and collapsing in an exhausted heap on the couch, cuddling makayah watching a movie, while samiyah took a nap. it's nice not to be so tired, and not to have to take a nap. i felt so good, in fact, that i decided to make an actual home cooked meal. our dinner menu that night: organic herb roasted chicken, creamy smashed red potatoes, and sweet corn on the cob accompanied by homemade yeast rolls - yes, i made them from scratch! ;)
mimzy was pretty excited about that corn!

she made quick work of those mashed potatoes, too!

my beautiful herb roasted chicken dinner. we had watched this cartoon (coraline) and they have the most amazing food shots - i was craving every single thing they were eating in that movie. i suppose that was my motivation.

...and beet/apple/carrot/celery juice to wash it all down.

i had almost forgotten that i could cook. my husband had almost forgotten, too. it's a good thing i reminded him. here are a couple more things we've been making:

isaiah was the talented photographer while mak and i worked on the whole wheat pie shells.

the kids had the task of pastry shape cutting for embellishments.

 the finished product.

isaiah's white pumpkin turned into 2 pumpkin pies and a tray full of pumpkin tarts. yes, they were worth the effort.

3 down, 5 to go.
