ten pounds lighter...

dear baby boy:

i had been dreaming about this day, anticipating, and anxiously awaiting the sound of my 5am alarm.

almost time to meet you.

the worst part about going in to the hospital...the needles. but a poke here and a pinch there is a small price to pay. 

whether it's baby number 1, 2, 3, or 4...it's always the same thrill. 

the same thoughts run through our heads...

how will you look? and who will you be?

after about an hour of changing and prepping, we were more than ready to meet you!

dr. jenny gave us the play by play. as soon as you emerged, we heard your gurgled cry. it never fails - as soon as i hear my babies' first cries, the tears start falling down my cheeks. 

your first cry was quickly followed by a round of screams as you peed all over the doctors and nurses. silly baby. ;)

you weighed a whopping 9lbs and 4oz and measured 21 inches long. you were one big boy!

needless to say, daddy was one proud and happy daddy. 

as i lay on the table, numb from the waist down doctors stitching me up, trying to match your cry to a face, they cleaned you up and bundled you. by the way, you hated your first sponge bath.

i mean, really hated it.

and finally, i saw you. you cried until daddy put you next to me and i whispered, i love you. as soon as you heard my voice and felt my skin, your crying stopped and we snuggled our first snuggle - cheek to cheek. it was impossible not to fall completely in love with you.

after all was sewn and put back together, we made our way to your hospital suite where your siblings eagerly awaited your arrival (along with your umpa and nana). 

you met your big brother, isaiah. he is thrilled beyond words to have you for a brother.

you are one lucky kid. ;) he's going to be so good to you.

next up, your big sister, makayah. 

she can't wait to play little mother to you and shower you with hugs and kisses!

and finally, your big sister, samiyah.

oh my goodness, it was like christmas for her. get ready to be smothered with love.

i think you two are going to be best buds.

so, little baby crowfoot...here's your family.

you are officially part of the crazy crowfoot crew.

they were all trying so very hard to contain their joy and excitement since mommy was sleepy.

you are the most perfect snuggle bunny!

mommy was tired and groggy, but you were so worth every second of it all.

i did have to take a break from snuggling you so i could comfort my little mimzy, though. 

as much as she was thrilled to have a new baby brother, she had missed her mommy and needed some loves.

after some hugs and kisses, mimzy was ready to hold you again.

she didn't want to let go.

but eventually, she had to so you could meet your nana!

you and i had a great stay while at the hospital. we had wonderfully helpful nurses caring for us. but really, by the end of the week, we were more than ready to go home and reunite with the rest of the bunch. thankfully, minutes before we left the hospital, we finally decided on a name that felt just right.
