election day at the beach

the sunshine comes bathing our rooms by 6am. it's fantastic. ordinarily, and in any other place, i'd grump and moan, yank my pillow over my head and try to go back to sleep. not here. there's something about this place that makes you want to get out of bed, run outside and jump for joy beneath the morning sun and blue sky.

i could definitely get used to this for the rest of my days.

we big island breakfast.

i can't even describe how tasty this was.
pure heaven.

after breakfast, we jumped into our beach clothes, and headed straight for ocean.

the best thing about this place is free entertainment. luckily, we found hapuna beach, and the sand was much finer - like fairy dust, so warm and soft, i could lie in it all day long.
the water was mildly cool, just cool enough to refresh your skin and not feel the least bit shivery.
it might've been a stressful election day everywhere else....but that was the last thing on our mind today.

mosiah was awake for two pictures and then fell fast asleep for the rest of the time here.

he preferred this sand to the lava lava beach sand, as well.

after i fed him and put him to sleep, it was time for this mama to have fun, too.
beach tip: nurse babies BEFORE splashing around in the ocean.

it wasn't too crowded, and mimzy seemed to have the entire beachfront to expend her energy.
thank goodness.

hmm, what to do? run into the surf? or build sand castles?
water wins, for now. giggle fits over running from the surf...so fun.

time for sand castles.

big sisters are great at helping build sand castles.
thanks, pookie bear.

the entire day was spent in the water. the waves were gentle and rolling, perfect for boogie boarding.

we got to swim with sea turtles today. the turtle was so close, isaiah touched his fin. it was pretty amazing.

there's absolutely nothing bad i have to say about this day at the beach.
we all had so much fun as a family.
we swam until we were hungry for more than the snacks we brought, so we packed up and headed home...

but not before picking up a couple of coconuts.
we managed to get the outer shell off without too much trouble. but the actual nut was a little more challenging.

looks like dad knows what he's doing...

it worked! isaiah and makayah weren't crazy about the milk or meat on it's own. so we blended it up in a smoothie, and it was pretty dang delicious.

not a care in the world.

another perfect day. i'm going to have to put these in my mental envelope of happy thoughts. so, whenever things are crazy and chaotic, i can think back on these days and remember that perfect days do happen. ;)

the end.
