sunday morning mayhem

last night sam had attempted an apology, and half jokingly said, "i'm sorry for getting you pregnant and making you a crazy pregnant woman."

we laughed then. and i laugh now, because it's so true. this morning, i wasn't laughing. in fact, this morning wasn't pretty. this morning it was time to get ready for church.

this is the part when i ask myself, why?

why do i even bother trying to round up a bunch of people (little and grown), stuff them into clothes that they don't want to wear, and shove them out the door in time for sacrament - which we almost never are in time for?

growing up, my dad was a stickler about being on time. in fact, we were considered late to church if we weren't there 10 minutes early sitting properly in our unofficially assigned pew.

i'd like to be on time for things. i know i used to be. i don't think anyone else in this household cares about the concept of being on time.

maybe it was the lack of spiritually calming music that warranted squabbling between siblings, caused the whining, the tantrums, the deaf ears.

no. that couldn't be. i know because even when i do play our sunday morning playlist, the morning can still turn into a disaster. it's a crap shoot, sometimes you're lucky and sometimes you're not.

...and maybe it is all the extra hormones that turn me into a monster. maybe if i didn't have to deal with all these extra hormones, waddling to and fro, referring this and that - then, all the squabbling, whining, tantrums, and deaf ears wouldn't be like nails on a chalkboard. i yelled. and i hate yelling. i got mad and i hate getting mad - what's the point of getting to church on time for sacrament if i'm in a horribly mad mood? i sent the kids out to wait on the steps so i could take a breather. i went to my bedroom and stuck my head underneath all my pillows and hid like an ostrich. i give up.

sam - who needs a push every sunday morning just to get out of bed 10 minutes before 9am, took the kids, all of them, to church this morning without me.

he asked me to come several times. and i remained hidden like an ostrich until he stopped asking. today, i give up. today, i will take a breather and rest up my crazy, pregnant lady self for tomorrow. oh, i hate when sam is right. i am just a crazy pregnant lady.

sorry kids. someday, you'll understand that the erratic hormones were to blame. it's not you - it's me.

today i am grateful for:

*hugs, kisses, and forgiveness.

*this funny little mims. she has taken a liking to cars, blowing nonstop raspberries to make the cars go. she is such a ray of sunshine!

*comic relief:
mom: isaiah, where did your fork go?
isaiah: i don't know, i just had it.
makayah: well, this sounds like a mystery!

*cub scouts. tonight was the blue and gold banquet. isaiah loves being involved in cub scouts with all his school friends. i didn't have to make dinner, and it was a nice way to end this crazy day. :)
