funnies...

as i was strolling down the aisles of target, heading towards the check out counters, i noticed one of samiyah's shoes had been kicked off. i stopped and said aloud, "oh great! you lost your shoe!"

the nearby target employee chuckled, and directed me towards the lost and found, "or you could retrace your steps and that might be even faster."

i smiled and replied, "thanks, i think we'll have to go retracing. i don't know why i even put shoes on her."

we both laughed and i turned myself around to begin the hunt.

makayah looked at me strangely and said in a hushed whisper, "mom! why are you even talking to him?"

"he was being nice and helpful and i was just being polite."

makayah gave me a sideways glance and then said, "don't you love daddy?"

"of course i do."

again, makayah scolded me, "well, then why are you talking to OTHER MEN?!"

i laughed. oh, my sweet, sweet girl. she sure does love her daddy.

on our way over to pick daddy up from school, isaiah was pretty frustrated about not being able to roll his "r's." i gave him the best instructions i could from the driver's seat and pretty soon the entire van was filled with "r" rolling. mimzy chimed in, but unfortunately all she got out was "brrrr!"

isaiah was a bit frustrated, so i pointed out that samiyah couldn't roll her "r's" either. he laughed and i think that made him feel a little better.

later on this evening, isaiah and makayah were "karate" play-fighting. all of a sudden, isaiah begins jumping up and down with joy. i was surprised because i thought for sure this "game" would end up in tears. anyway, he triumphantly announced he had lost his other front tooth. we had been working on that stubborn thing for the past couple of months.

isaiah presented his loose tooth to sam and i and said, "makayah kicked me in the face and it came out!"

as isaiah was rinsing his mouth out in the bathroom, we heard makayah say to him, "aren't you so glad i kicked you in the face and knocked your tooth out?"

today i am grateful for:

*the wonderful cleaning job isaiah and makayah did in the kitchen after dinner. i was quite impressed - even the floors were swept.

*isaiah's knocked out tooth. finally!

*dishwashers.

  3. Speaking of Target workers, one came from like, 3 aisles down when she saw me with a stroller the other day saying, "Baby!?!?!? I LOVE babies!!!" at which point she proceeded to touch Chloe's hands and face. Needless to say, my next stop was the bathroom to wash her up, and my next purchase was antibacterial hand wipes for babies.

    Nervy, right?

  4. Not that there's anything wrong with Target workers over anyone else, but...well, you get my point. It's late. I need sleep. Bleh. I'll stop now.
