i'm not gonna lie...
this was one of the highlights for me.
i love food. i especially love food from cafe rio. a visit to utah valley isn't complete unless i've had one of these:
ok, now that my taste buds are satisfied, we can begin our treck southward.
just outside of moab.
i've made this drive a hundred times. it's beautifully calming every time...with the exception of the time my cousin candi and i thought we were being chased by a serial killer. and the other time we almost hit a horse. and the other time we almost ran out of gas. okay, maybe not calming, but most certainly adventurous.
and there was that time when sam and i were dating, i was driving back with my family and sam and i were in my car, belting out songs all the way to provo.
i love the flood of fond memories, this lonesome highway brings.
just outside of fort defiance.
black rock. the very first time i ran past this rock was my freshman year in high school track. the second time running past, there was a huge dust storm as i ran my 10 mile long run on a saturday morning, training for my marathon 3 years ago. once, on halloween night, my best friends and i drove around this rock on the bumpy dirt roads littered with tumbleweeds, telling ghost stories and totally freaking ourselves out.
today i am grateful to be back home in arizona. i am grateful for the familiarity and fun memories.
