mike and the gang...

five days ago we got a call from sam's brother.
he just wanted to let us know that he was getting married in 19 days.
in salt lake city, utah.
...and he'd really like us to be there.
...and all of a sudden we have to pack up, fast.
we looked around our apartment, overwhelmed, and after a few days, threw our hands up in the air in defeat. moving a family of 6 out of state with a newborn and 18 month on hand is plain impossible. nope, can't do it. we called and broke the news that we just couldn't make it.

after a few more days, we really wanted to be there - it was sam's brother's wedding for crying out loud. we gathered our heads, broke things down into bite sized pieces and the move seemed easier to swallow. our landlord had called saying that, "never mind what i had said earlier about getting out of your lease at the end of the june - instead i'm going to hold you until the end of august because i want the rent money." okay, so those weren't his exact words, and although, it turned out to be much more expensive for us to stay in our lease, it worked out.

now, we didn't have to move EVERYTHING. now, we could pack as much as we could, tidy up and save the deep cleaning for sometime in august...and eventually make the move when we'd know where we were moving. this was much more doable.

but now, going to the wedding was a surprise and we couldn't publicly announce that we actually might not be back to madison (sam was figuring he would make the trip back and tie up all the loose ends himself). so, we kinda had to keep quiet about things - publicly, anyway, to keep our surprise.

we figured we should have one last hurrah with all our friends and jam pack as many activities in the last few weeks we had in madison - just in case.
oh, the uncertainty!

well, whaddya know, ice cream does wonders for stress relieving...

we had pizza and ice cream with some of our friends from law school.

well, most of us did. mosiah wasn't too happy about being left out...or maybe he wasn't looking forward to having cow's milk in his dinner that night.

michelle, cassandra, and makayah.

mimzy was in ice cream heaven.

she even did her happy dance numerous times.
