what's this? i slept in until 7:30am? oh sweet, sweet summer!
i love you already.

although, i slept in, the kids really didn't. isaiah and makayah "watched" them and fed them bananas, but i still woke up to this:

and this:

thanks kids, for bringing all your school supplies home.
i discovered samiyah behind the closed pantry door - scribbling like a madwoman all over her arms, apparently racing to get the job done before i snatched the marker away.
we dressed for the day, and began enjoying our first day of no school.

...like copying big brothers and scaling patio railings.

and jumping to our heart's content while smelling these incredible blossoms. our backyard smells like summer kool-aid with all these blooms.
it's absolutely heavenly.

and this happened quite frequently throughout the day.
i suspect this will be a continuing problem.

welcome to summer, mama!

"i want i-keem, petty peez!"

wish granted. kinda.
not ice cream, but watermelon-lime popsicles.

seems to be doing the trick.

so the beginning of summer, didn't actually go as blissfully as these photos suggest.
a huge part of the morning was spent deep-cleaning and dejunking our house in preparation for camp crowfoot that starts on monday.
all you could hear were cries of, "this is the worst summer ever!" and
"i wish we were back at school!"
tough luck kids.
and if you listened extra carefully, you probably would've heard, "dammit" more than i'd like to admit.
but when the unfair assignment of chores were finally completed, and the whining had finally subsided,
these kids were pretty happy.
so was i.

well, except this kid. his top molars are coming in and he cries whenever he isn't held.
poor baby,
poor mama's tired and wimpy arms.
"dammit samiyah! stay off the roads!"
the world is right when daddy comes home.
sweet relief and extra hands!
...and extra fun.
this ride was all isaiah could talk about for the past two days. he was the only one crazy enough to ride it. my gravitron riding days are over. but i'm glad he was so brave.
makayah opted out of riding this, but she wanted to stick around.
"i wanna see him puke!"
sister of the year, right here, folks.
thankfully, there was no puking.
makayah on the flying swings.
mimzy has been obsessed with ponies lately. so, this was the obvious choice.
she is so dang cute, it kills me!
"MY PO-NEE!"
isaiah found his friends from school.
"i'm gonna go hang out with my friends."
what the what?! how did this kid get old enough to go running off with friends?
so, hanging out they went.
it was a little weird, i'm not gonna lie.
but he had a blast, so it's all good.
makayah even met up with her friend from school.
they knew more people than sam and i did!
when rides were done, it was time for food.
like delicious greek gyros (i hate saying that word - i always feel like i butcher it),
and like this humungous piece of funnel cake.
it ended up being way too much for us to actually finish.
and something to wash it all down.
poor mo - he wasn't too keen on sharing.
mmm, tiger's blood is pretty yummy.
isaiah had gone on his extra rides with his friends earlier,
so we hung out for a bit, just us...and the babies.
we all tried our hands at the rigged circus games, and i just happened to win.
i'm pretty awesome at this game.
our first ever pet in wisconsin.
sharkbait-ooh-ha-ha.
it was a gorgeous day to go to the fair.

small town sparta is the place to be.
see kids? i told you we'd have fun today, after all that cleaning.

the end.
