santa didn't come this morning. the kids were fairly distraught until they learned that santa wasn't coming until after church. i did sneak in a little comment about how they shouldn't have fought yesterday. anyway, santa didn't want the focus to be on presents, and instead, wanted us to remember the real reason for christmas - which isn't about finding christmas gifts under the tree - but about celebrating the humbling gift of the birth of Christ.
the talks at church were very uplifting and a beautiful reminder of looking outside ourselves (and the toy stores), to become more Christ-like in our own lives, giving and serving our fellowmen.
when we arrived back home after church, the kids found santa had left his bags of goodies for the good little boys and girls.
sam was surprised to find a book written about him. ;)
the best gift was being with family.
as far back as i can remember, i've always been right by my mom's side helping her with pie making or in charge of pie making for the christmas dinner.
i was in charge again. i also made most of the side dishes so my mom could relax.
mims thought the dinner was absolutely fabulous and did her little happy jig.
i hope you all had a happy christmas, too.
****
today i am grateful for:
*the christmas messages at church that helped bring my focus back to important things.
*the kindness and love my family offers me.
*the delicious christmas feast.
