tomorrow afternoon we fly out to arizona to spend Christmas with my parents. well, more accurately, we fly into new mexico, then we drive to my parents' home in arizona. i'm really excited. we haven't spent Christmas with them since isaiah was born. i'm looking forward to making pies and cookies and singing carols, going sledding (they actually had snow before we did, and much more of it). i'm excited to watch old movies with my mom while we are busily sewing and finishing projects. i'm so thrilled, i can even overlook the fact that we have to fly on a plane with a wiggly, walking 15 month old.
it was a day of preparation. it's too bad all my energy and motivation had been spent over the weekend. i did manage to muster up a bit of productivity to tidy up and get these Christmas cards in the mail. i think the post office stop was the one thing, today, that i wasn't looking forward to. luckily, it wasn't so bad.
makayah was smart and brought her coloring book and crayons. she set up shop under one of the packaging tables.
and samiyah was mostly occupied with this lone aqua-marine crayon - which she just couldn't resist taste-testing. i think she found the flavor of aqua-marine to be quite enjoyable, because when she saw i wasn't looking, she bit the top off. it was immediately confiscated.
sometimes i feel like all i ever do is drive all around town, dropping people off, picking people up - only to come home and then tidy everything up over and over again. today was no different. HOWEVER, i was extremely happy to be picking up this guy:
praise the heavens -finals are over!
there was a celebration game of star wars monopoly.
one random thing today, samiyah is absolutely in love with bubbles. as i was blowing bubbles for her to catch, she copied me and began yelling out, "bubbo! bubbo!" it sent me into a fit of giggles - this girl is just way too cute.
today i am grateful for:
*the sense i had to pack the majority of our bags yesterday.
*leftovers, no cooking, no new dishes to wash.
*having my husband back. by the end of the day, he had unwound, de-stressed, and we were laughing at silly movies like our old selves by the end of the day. :)
