Up in the air

we made double sure to wake up on time, and get to the airport with an hour and a half to spare. we ate breakfast, checked in, and settled into the waiting seats.

this is one of samiyah's favorite things to do. and one of her favorite books to "read."

if you don't know my children, be forewarned - if you decide to say, "hello," be ready for hours of conversation. sam and i laughed to ourselves as makayah and isaiah bombarded the poor and unsuspecting stranger with "why" questions. they are anything but shy, and will find out everything about you - your name, why you decided to buy a blue water bottle instead of a purple one, and then make you guess their own names - while giving you all the wrong clues just because they think it's funny to trick people. we laughed because we were so glad it wasn't us, and with her taking the heat, sam and i could relax and talk to each other - uninterrupted. thanks, stranger.

the first flight was uneventful and very short...about an hour at the most. samiyah decided this was the flight to take her nap on.

the view.

on the second leg of our trip, everyone was wide awake. they did a pretty good job for the most part as long as they had their snacks.

isaiah sat by his lonesome in the row in front of us. he is a pro flyer. he's flown internationally and overseas, this kid knows what he's doing. so, a flight from wisconsin to abq...piece of cake! i love his little set up here.

he was way too quiet and well-behaved, so i had to bug him a few times to make sure he okay. ;)

the two hour flight wasn't too bad, but it was still pretty tiring.

it was an incredible relief to get off the plane. i was becoming a little too claustrophobic. i think i prefer the freedom of driving the long distances and being able to stop and get out whenever needed.

after the disappointment of missing our flight yesterday - the kids were in tears saying, "you said we'd get to see nana and umpa today!" - they were finally reunited.

it feels good to be back.

today i am grateful for:

*the kind lady who talked to our kids for quite a lengthy amount of time while we waited for our plane.

*sam, who changed mimzy on the plane - twice.

*hugs and kisses from nana and umpa. :)
