ahem, i was mistaken...

it's not often that i am wrong. okay, maybe i'm more wrong than i think or would like to admit. but the point is, it is sunday evening. the kids are in bed, fast asleep, and the house is relatively clean - no thanks to me.

in spite of his scratchy throat, sam helped the kids clean the house, and then proceeded to make dinner.

contrary to my pessimistic predictions, there will be no pillows or blankets or crumbs sprinkled across the living room floor.

a load of dishes has been washed. the floor swept. and the kids' room cleaned.

sam and i may have very different ways of getting things done, but it's done. i was still in my sickly, stuffy-headed slump and somehow he made things all better and i didn't even have to ask.

i have to admit, i feel a little foolish as i sit here looking around at the tidiness that surrounds me - remembering how i whined and complained how no one helped. and yet, as i lied around hopelessly in a slump...sam pulled me through sunday, and is out at this very moment buying a few grocery items so i don't have to go tomorrow. yes, i am a fool. a very lucky fool, but a fool just the same.

i failed to mention one very important thing i do love about the weekends, the extra pair of hands. sam literally takes the weight off my shoulders, whether it is carrying samiyah around, or lifting the kids off to bed...whatever it is, i am grateful for his help.

you are my hero, sam. thank you for an unexpectedly wonderful end to the weekend.

today i am grateful for:

*sam. i couldn't have asked for a better father or husband.

*kids who are well enough to go back to school tomorrow.

*a chance to get back into the swing of things, finally. usually, if things go according to plan, it takes approximately 2 weeks to recover from travel/holiday fun. this time it took 4. i'm looking forward to getting out of this crazy slump.

like, like, LOVE...
he is his father's son (this is me giving Strater credit for teaching 5 sons 'way to be')
my favorite part was 'we may have different ways of getting things done, but it's done.' (amen & amen!)
LOVE real life everyday heroes!
