feeling pretty great, better anyway.

today was considerably better than yesterday.

it might've been the wonderful lunch with friends that put me in a great mood.

in fact, samiyah was so excited about the possibility of going out, she ran to the front door and tried to put her own shoes on.

we felt great enough to go grocery shopping. good thing, our fridge was looking pretty bare.

we felt great enough to record the year's growth spurts. isaiah grew a whopping 3 inches since last year. makayah also grew about 3 inches since last year. and mimzy, took the cake with 5.5 inches!

as you can tell, mims was pretty happy with her spurting.

and she definitely wanted to make sure daddy marked her progress correctly.

i felt great enough to make homemade red lentil soup with whole wheat cornbread muffins. it really was a perfect meal for a cold and wintery day.
daddy felt great enough to let mimzy self feed. i wasn't so sure about that one. in the end, her lentils and carrots and celery ended up on the floor. at least she felt great about being independent for a bit.
isaiah felt great enough to eat dinner without his shirt. honestly, i don't know why he didn't want to wear a shirt. he's a boy. and this boy, for some reason or other, just likes to go shirtless every once in a while. i think he just wanted to show off his muscles. ;)

it's nice to have the kids feeling better.

quotes of the day:

*on the way home from our lunch date and grocery shopping, makayah asked, "mom, were there cars in Jesus' time?"
nope.
"well, what about target?"
nope.
"no cars?! no targets?! well, why didn't he just invent them?"
i have no idea.

*sam came home from work starving, asking what we were having for dinner. lentil soup.
he asked, rather incredulously, "lentil soup?! didn't you go grocery shopping today?"
i'm not exactly sure what was meant by that. but i had to laugh, just the same. sam isn't the biggest fan of lentil soup. but after dinner, he did exclaim how "far" my lentil soup has come. thanks, sam. ;)

today i am grateful for:

*lunch with friends. after being cooped up for the past week, it was nice to feel like a grown-up, having grown-up conversations, using grown-up words.

*how much my parents enjoy my blog and how funny and entertaining they find it. :)

*errands that have forced me out despite this frigidness. it's nice to break up the day with something, especially when the kids are bored and still recuperating. i'm hoping mak is well enough to go back to preschool on friday. i hope, i hope, i hope.
