if i had the luxury of locking myself in my bedroom all day long, i would have.
sick kids = no fun.
by the end of the day i couldn't take it anymore. the kids had been put to bed early, and i was desperate for some kind of control in my life - anything. so, as emotionally and physically exhausted as i was after caring for two sick little girls, i scrubbed the house down. it was the second time within 5 days that i deep cleaned the house. i quite literally scrubbed my fingertips raw. i think it took me about an hour to get the entire house in tip top shape. even the laundry was folded and put away.
believe me, i was incredibly tempted to throw in the towel, leave the house a disaster, and lie in my bed crunching on ice chips while wasting the rest of the evening away playing sudoku.
the clean and disinfected house was much more rewarding. and i felt zero guilt eating my pistachio ice cream and chocolates while laughing at the craziness of "crazy, stupid, love."
i guess the ENTIRE day wasn't a complete disaster. at least i get to wake up to a tidy place.
today i am grateful for:
*samiyah, who, in spite of being sick, still manages to make me laugh. as i was getting ready to take isaiah to school this morning, she grabbed a toque and placed it on her head - thinking she was coming along.
she looked way too cute.
*for the fun time makayah had at ballet despite all the trouble it was to get her there, care for my miserable, coughing mimzy, and then lug everybody back home.
*for my handsome boy. i'm so glad he's on the mend and not sick anymore. it would have been an even bigger nightmare to manage THREE sick kids at one time.
i love his bashful smile.
*finally, i am grateful for pistachio ice cream and ferrero roche chocolates. it wasn't a good day to have my patience tested, and i'm just glad i managed to survive this day without too much damage.

yayyy!
